My Story - Remy Grogan (Illustrator)

Remy Grogan grew up in Heyfield, Victoria, attending the local primary school, where she was taught by Dorothy A H Lofting, who became a family friend.

Remy’s love of painting and art developed in Primary School. This skill of painting has worked well for her as she has been able to help raise money for Cancer Charity Auctions which have supported her during her own Cancer Journey.

Remy was asked to paint three pairs of football boots for the AFL’s Carlton Football Club for the Royal Children’s Hospital Easter Good Friday Appeal 2026.

The boots were worn by players at the MCG and one pair was auctioned with proceeds to go to the Appeal. This is a major fund raiser for the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal in Melbourne.

Remy loves to paint and sketch woodland animals using watercolour and acrylic paints. Her inspiration for art comes from her love of music and her fascination with Marvel and DC characters. When she is not painting or sketching, she will be reading or going to concerts and movies.

In 2026, she left Heyfield to study film at AFTRS (The Australian Film Television Radio School) in Sydney. But had to return home due to her terminal cancer diagnosis.

Remy now stays home with her ‘son’, ( a loving cat called Tommy Tom), two rabbits and two naughty family labradors. Remy has an older sister Charlotte and a younger brother Nayte. Her parents Greg and Traci and the extended family provide the unwavering support needed at this time. Remy will now bask in her hobbies; seeing friends and watching Batman.

My Story - Dorothy AH Lofting (Author)

Dorothy Alison grew up in Bayside, Melbourne and attended St Leonard’s Co-Ed College. She settled in Maffra, Gippsland and worked full-time as a Primary Teacher. She retired from teaching in 2021.

She met the Grogan family at Heyfield Primary School. The Grogans and Alison have maintained a friendship even after the children moved on to Secondary College.

Alison and Remy Grogan decided to join forces and work on “Aurora. A Christmas Story”. Alison had the story written but had not taken it any further. After seeing Remy photographed with the amazing painted football boots, Alison had the idea of contacting Remy to see if she would be willing to illustrate her Christmas story.

Remy was instrumental in the design of all the illustrations in the story and set a Christmas 2026 target for publication.

“If I didn’t have Remy and Jonette George of Sunday Press Melbourne, the story of Aurora would still be in the drawer of my desk!” Alison said.

In December 2025, Jonette George of Sunday Press also published Alison’s other book, ‘Swim Milton Swim’, a story about a hero Newfoundland dog named Milton.

Alison has a son, Cordell, studying in Hobart and family living on the Surf Coast, Victoria and Newport in the Northern Beaches of NSW.
