Dean Keddell, Executive Chef and Owner of Ginger Moon and Jackson Lily's in Bali, says he is sitting amidst a tsunami of grief on his island home of Bali. The COVID-19 pandemic has stopped all tourism to the island and the people are struggling.

Dean is working hard with his team to produce a cookbook, with proceeds going to some of the hardest-hit charities that usually support local people, animals and the environment as well as the families of his staff. Sunday Press is helping Dean to produce the book. Bosshospo is running the crowd funder and marketing on Chuffed (platform) which allows all proceeds raised to go to the nominated charities:

1. Bali Children's Foundation - which helps thousands of local children to complete school and to find employment.

2. Aura Sukma Insani Foundation - based on a humanitarian concept to help those in need to improve their quality of life.

3. Scholars of Sustenance - an initiative to combat the effects of COVID-19 by providing nutrition to those in need.

4. Bali Wild Life Rescue Center - which works to protect wildlife and their habitats, at the same time supporting local communities.

5. Bye Bye Plastic Bags - whose mission is to empower people to do what is right through education, campaigns and political meetings, one bag at a time.

THE CAMPAIGN WILL COMMENCE OCTOBER 10 ON CHUFFED.ORG

Bali - food gifts from the gods

Bali is Australia's most visited island in Asia, with over 1 million of us visiting each year. If the stunning beaches, great surf, high mountains and exotic food don't grab you - it's the friendly and kind people that greet you from the moment you step foot on their land.

Forever smiling, the locals make it their business to welcome us.  It's why we keep going back.

But there’s a problem

But now the island is shut down to tourists. No income is hurting the Balinese people, and the charities they usually turn to for support have hit rock bottom with their cashflows and are hitting brick walls trying to find much-needed cash to keep their charities afloat.

Here’s what we’re doing about it

Dean Keddell, chef and owner of two renowned Bali restaurants, Ginger Moon and Jackson Lily's, says he is sitting amongst the chaos feeling powerless. He wants to do something to support the many beloved charities he regularly supports as well as his staff, so he decided to reach out for some help to produce a cookbook, with the proceeds going to good use!

Dean is pulling together a stunning hardcover cookbook with an assortment of recipes from his restaurants as well as his staff and families. Proceeds will not only provide funds for his staff, whose families are struggling, but also for five local charities:

You can join us

We are currently working with Dean Keddell and Bosshospo By pre-ordering one of Dean's cookbooks, you will be helping Dean print and produce a minimum 1,000 books. Proceeds will raise significant funds to put directly into the accounts of these local organisations by Christmas, which will do so much to support the Balinese community.

And here are some amazing perks for supporting us that you can’t live without!

Stunning, hardcover cookbook, written by Dean Keddell and his staff. Local Balinese recipes to make at home. Beautifully photographed and written with stories about Ginger Moon and Jackson Lily's staff, their families and their neighbourhoods.
